There are two general types of materials that cannot be sent between campuses: reserves and reference materials. The "Place Hold" button should not appear for either of these types.

Screenshot of a circulating book and a reserve book: arrows point out the hold button for the circulating one, and the lack thereof in the other.

You can check the item type by clicking on the title to view the detailed record. At the bottom, where it lists which location(s) have a copy, you'll see a column for Material Type: if you see "reserve" or "reference" (or just a "non-circulating" note), you can confirm that this is not a requestable item.

Material type is the third column of information, after library and shelf location.

If the item looks normal but you still can't place a hold, please email uplibrary-circ@lonestar.edu with your account info, the title you're trying to request, and any details about the error message you might be getting (which might be as simple as "Hold not allowed").
