Library reserves are a set of materials that can be borrowed, but they stay on a shorter leash than normal materials -- that is, they have much shorter check-out times and often you cannot take them out of the library. This is so they can be borrowed by more people more quickly.

Textbooks commonly make up a large portion of reserve collections at college libraries. Additional course materials (e.g. geology kits or calculators) or fun items (like board games) are available as well. Find a full list of our reserve materials on the Library Services & Resources guide.

Most textbooks can be borrowed for 2 hours at a time, in-library use only.

Do I have to reserve? Are they reserved for someone else?

Textbooks and other reserves are available on a "first come, first serve" basis -- just walk up and ask! You -- all of you UP students -- are the ones they're reserved for, not someone/anyone else in particular.
