Lone Star's e-books reside in two primary collections, the EBSCO Ebook Collection and ProQuest Ebook Central. Like the other databases, you'll be prompted to log in with your 14-digit library barcode in order to get access.

You can also locate e-books while searching in the library catalog by filtering to "electronic resources"; however, not quite all e-books are included in the catalog, which is better used for finding physical items (books, DVDs, CDs, etc).

In both online e-book collections, you'll be able to start reading the books without formally checking them out. While you can transfer books in whole or in part to another device (phone or tablet), it's honestly going to be much more convenient to access them on your computer/through a browser, due to the digital rights management hoops to jump through. Our guide to e-books offers more detail about that.

Both platforms also offer options for saving books to come back to later, which require setting up a free account with each. (EBSCO and ProQuest are different companies, so the two accounts do not talk to each other.)

Discover research more quickly by using the "search inside" functionality, as well as the hyperlinked tables of contents, to jump to the most relevant sections of the e-books!

Looking for more fun reads than research? Your LSC library barcode will also get you access to HCPL e-book collections. OverDrive/Libby is fun and easy to use (even on a mobile device).
